How to apply for Marriage Certificate in Punjab-
It is essential to register the marriage if both of the parties to marriage or either of any party is citizen of India. If any of the party belongs to foreign country then it is mandatory to disclose this and Passport No., Name of country shall be mentioned. If marriage is already registered outside the Punjab then no need to register again in Punjab.
Hindu Marriage Act-
State Government framed rules for recording of particulars of Hindu Marriage to Register named “Hindu Marriage Registrar”.
To register the marriage in Hindu Marriage Act, party may apply in form specified in Schedule ‘A’ with all particulars necessary to fill in Hindu Marriage Register.
Documents Required for Marriage Certificate in Punjab-
For the Marriage Registration under Hindu Marriage Act Photo Copy of the following Documents with original documents/proof are required to submit along with application form-
- Ration Card/ Voter Id Card/ Indian Passport (any one )
- Birth Proof (Birth Certificate or Metric Certificate)
- One separate Passport Size photo(Bride & Groom)
- One Passport Size photo of present witness (Parents)
- Marriage Invitation Card
- Two Marriage Photos
Time Period for Marriage Certificate in Punjab-
For issuance of marriage certificate, Standard time period is 30 days.
Fee for Marriage Certificate in Punjab-
Fee of Marriage Registration under Hindu Marriage Act- Govt. Fee- Rs. 125/- (SBI Bank Challan), Suwidha Facilitation Charges- Rs. 700/-
Govt. Fee is submitted through challan in State Bank of India.
Procedure for Marriage Certificate in Punjab-
Applicant can also apply through Suwidha Center. They all need to do is visit to the nearest the Suwidha Center and can submit form there. After submission of form, application photo of the applicant will be captured and suwidha fee is paid.
Applicants need to present before the Tehsildar with witness’s to register their statements. Marriage Certificate is issued to the applicants on the same day.
