Required Documents for Caste Certificate-
Following documents may be submitted by the applicant for Caste Certificate, whether ha is applying Online or Offline-
- Affidavit attested by Oath Commissioner (Format of Affidavit can be downloaded from state’s official website or can be taken from local authority)
- Report by Halka Patwari/ Municipal Council/ Municipal Committee
- Report by Council / warden / village head regarding the caste certificate
- Copy of Ration card
- Identity Proof like Aadhar Card/ Voter ID Card etc.
Duplicate copy of Caste Certificate- In case of Lost of Original Caste Certificate (SC/ ST/ BC/ OBC/ SBC etc), A Duplicate Caste Certificate can be issued by the authority. Check Status of Caste Certificate-
When you Apply for Caste Certificate i.e. SC/ BC/ OBC or SBC online, you receive a unique acknowledgement number, you can know your Status of Caste Certificate by entering this number in “Check Status” box. You can find out this option on official website of your state or concerned authority for Caste Certificates.
Verification of Caste Certificate-
If you have received your caste certificate from third party, you can check its status through official portal. Some states provide this facility on their web portal. Otherwise, you can verify your Caste Certificate by visiting the Local Office of authority.
Validity of Caste Certificate-
The validity of Caste Certificate i.e. SC/ BC/ OBC/ SBC is life time.
The statutory lists of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes, in pursuance of Articles 341 and 342 of the Indian Constitution, were notified for the first time under the Constitution (Schedule Castes) Order, 1950 and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950. These lists have been modified/amended/supplemented from time to time and on the reorganization of the States, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes List (Modification) Order came into force from 29th October, 1956. Thereafter, a few other orders in respect of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes list in some individual States also came into force.
Procedure to Get Caste Certificate-
The Candidate has to Apply in such form and in such manner as prescribed, to the competent authority for issue of caste certificate. The competent authority may, on an application made after satisfying himself about the procedure prescribed issue a caste certificate within such time limit.
Verification of Caste Certificate-
After obtaining Caste certificate from competent authority, any person desirous of availing of the benefits or concessions provided to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) , Other Backward Category (OBC) for the purpose stated above may make an application in such a form and in manner prescribed to concerned Scrutiny Committee for verification of such Caste Certificate and issue of validity certificate.

Certifying authority should be one concerned with the locality in which the person applying for a certificate has his permanent place of abode. Revenue Authorities have been empowered to issue certificates on the basis of a certificate issued by an MP, MLA, Gazetted Officer etc.
